Bijli Mahadev Ropeway
According to Hindu legend, the Bijli Mahadev Temple was built to honour Lord Shiva after
he defeated the asura (demon) named Jalandhara with his trident and saved the
Kullu Valley from flooding. According to locals, the temple has existed since
ancient times. There is also another version of the legend, which says that
Lord Shiva killed an asura named Kulanta, who had come to Kully from the
village of Mathan in Lahaul-Spiti. Kulanta took the form of a giant snake and
wanted to submerge all life forms on the planet under water. Shiva defeated the
demon and saved the people.
We are currently implementing a detachable ropeway with state-of-the-art technology,
which will ensure transport from the valley to the temple. The total line
length is 2.4 km. With a planned travel speed of 6 m/s, the estimated travel
time is around 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
The system will operate with 10-person gondolas and fully complies with the relevant
European standards 2016/424.
